Setup & support
Getting the first night right
From the box arriving to hearing your first sound.
Preparation
Before you start
- Charge the Pebble. It runs on an internal battery and needs charging before every use.
- Check that all four gel electrode pads are present.
- Avoid taking sleep medication on the night you record.
- Clean your forehead and wipe away oils, dirt and cosmetics.
Steps
Four steps
- 01
Fit the pad and place the device
Follow the instruction sheet to attach a gel pad to the Pebble, and place it firmly over the frontal lobe of your forehead. If you use a CPAP machine, keep it from touching the pad.
- 02
Start recording and sleep
Press the record button; the light stays on for about three minutes, then goes out and stays out while recording. The device makes no sound. It stays in place for side and stomach sleepers. Eight hours is recommended, but shorter nights still work.
- 03
Upload the recording
In the morning, connect the Pebble to a computer with the supplied cable and upload the night through the SDH myWaves portal. Analysis takes about thirty minutes.
- 04
Receive your sound and listen
Download the generated sound in the app. It is an MP3, so speakers and headphones work too. Listen for thirty minutes as you fall asleep, at a volume you can hear clearly without it keeping you awake.
The app
Playing your sound
Generated sounds arrive in the myWaves app for iOS and Android.
When it goes wrong
Common snags
-
Asked to enable BitLocker
If your computer prompts you to enable BitLocker when you connect the Pebble, choose Cancel or Skip. Enabling it can stop the device recording or uploading properly.
-
The recording did not come out
Nearly always fit or skin preparation. Check the pad is attached correctly, your forehead was clean, and the device sat flush.
-
You barely slept
Not a problem. myWaves needs the delta waves of early sleep. A night you could not settle, or woke through, still records what is needed.
-
The adhesive irritates your skin
If you have adhesive sensitivities or allergies, consult a doctor before use. The pads use a 3M material.
