How it works
From one night of recording to a nightly habit
All it takes is one night of sleep recorded, and thirty minutes as you fall asleep.
The three steps
- 01
Record your sleep
Fit a gel electrode pad to the Pebble, place it on your forehead and sleep as usual. Eight hours is recommended, but a shorter night still yields what is needed. The device makes no sound, and its light goes out about three minutes after recording starts.
- 02
Upload, and the sound is generated
In the morning, connect the Pebble to a computer and upload the recording to the portal. Patented neuro-acoustic transduction analyses your delta waves and your sound is ready in about thirty minutes.
- 03
Listen as you fall asleep
Play the MP3 in the app or on any device you already own. Set the volume loud enough to hear clearly, but not so loud that it keeps you awake.

Things worth knowing
-
A bad night still works
What myWaves needs are the delta waves of deep sleep, and those come early in the night. A night when you could not settle, or woke repeatedly, still produces the data.
-
A nightmare does not spoil it
Nightmares occur mostly in later REM sleep. myWaves uses the delta waves from early in the night, so the recording is unaffected.
-
Someone else's sound will not work
The clinical study confirmed this. Only a sound generated from your own brainwaves does anything.
-
You do not wear it every night
Record once and keep using that sound. The device goes back on only when you re-record.
Recording tips
Getting a clean recording
Almost every failed recording comes down to fit and skin preparation.
- Follow the instruction sheet and check that the Pebble and the gel pad are assembled correctly.
- Clean your forehead before applying the pad. Wipe away oils, dirt and cosmetics.
- Avoid taking sleep medication on the night you record. Most other medication has little effect on deep-sleep brainwaves.
- If you use a CPAP machine, keep it from touching the adhesive pad during recording. We do not recommend using both together.
- If your computer asks to enable BitLocker when you connect the Pebble, choose Cancel or Skip.
When to record again
Delta waves change over time, and a sound works best when it reflects your current brainwave data. We recommend re-recording on a regular cadence.
- Ages 25 to 60
- Three to four times a year. Brainwave patterns barely change in this range.
- Under 25 or over 60
- Every one to two months, as patterns change more readily.
- Sounds in the kit
- The one-year subscription covers three downloadable personalised sounds.
