Overview

myWaves brings deep sleep to your nights

Listen to a sound made from your own brainwaves for thirty minutes as you fall asleep. No drugs, no change to how you live.

The need

Japan is a country that cannot sleep. Six in ten people struggle with it.

Trouble falling asleep. Waking in the night. Still tired in the morning. In Japan a great many people live with this and treat it as something that cannot be fixed.

The myWaves sleep solution aims to improve sleep quality by having you listen, as you go to sleep, to a sound generated from your own brainwave data. It is not a supplement, and it is not generic relaxation audio.

Origin

A new sleep experience out of frontier research

Dr Alain Destexhe is a neuroscientist at the CNRS in Paris. The idea of using brainwaves to help people sleep came to him on a transatlantic flight, while he was struggling to rest.

His subsequent work on brain states and neural noise showed that a sleep sound personalised to a person's own brainwaves substantially improved relaxation and sleep.

He developed myWaves out of a single intention: to bring deeper, more comfortable sleep within everyone's reach.

How it works

Three steps to a sound that is yours

One night of recording. After that, thirty minutes as you fall asleep.

  1. 01

    Record one night of sleep

Wear the Pebble EEG recorder on your forehead and sleep. A single night captures your sleep rhythm and your brainwave pattern.

  2. 02

    Generate your own sleep sound

Upload the recording to the portal. A patented algorithm analyses it and produces a sound that is yours alone, in about thirty minutes.

  3. 03

    Improve how you sleep

Once you are in bed, open the app and listen for thirty minutes. Your own sound encourages relaxation and carries you into deeper, more comfortable sleep.

Why myWaves

Plenty of products promise better sleep. Very few deliver it.

  • Sleep solutions that disappoint

Sleep supplements frequently leave people drowsy or heavy the next day. Audio-based sleep products are, almost always, not actually personalised.

  • Technology grounded in neuroscience

Unlike the dry electrodes in consumer devices, myWaves uses gel electrode pads. That records delta waves with far less noise, and patented neuro-acoustic transduction turns them into a sound that is yours.

  • A scientific lullaby that lasts

Adult brainwave patterns change very little, so most people need only a few recordings a year. You do not wear the device every night.

When to reach for myWaves

Nightly sleep, but also jet lag after travel, a break between study sessions, or a nap. It supports quality rest in a range of situations.
